Various Roads (Witney) Proposed Parking Restrictions

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce various waiting restrictions in several locations within Witney. The proposals have come about over a lack of parking for residents as well as dangerous parking in and around junctions outside of the hours of the current single yellow line parking restrictions that apply. Additionally, new restrictions are being proposed for Avenue Two in the Parkside Business Park to facilitate the development of adjacent commercial land, which will include a new vehicle access. Specifically, the proposals comprise of the following:

  • to introduce new and/or extend existing Prohibition of Waiting at Any Time (Double Yellow Lines - DYLs) on the following roads:
    • Newland - on the southern side, northwards from Church Lane, and either side of the junction with the Newland Industrial Estate & Compton Way,
    • Church Lane - on the west side either side of the junction with Meadow View, and on the north side at the access to Cogges Manor Farm Museum,
    • Corndell Gardens - at the southern end, outside property Nos.9, 11 & 18 along the wall adjacent to the Builders yard,
    • The Crofts - the existing DYLs will be extended further southwards from Corn Street reducing the 2-hour parking (8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Saturday inclusive),
    • Avenue Two - on both sides around the proposed new access junction south of the junction with Heynes Place.
  • No Waiting 8-00am to 6-00pm Monday to Saturday will be removed as follows:
    • Newland (outside 'The Griffen' public house) - replaced with 30 metres of unrestricted parking and sections of DYLs around the junctions (as listed above).

*note: for further details of which roads (and by what extents) are affected by the various proposals please refer to the plans & public notice.
