Access to Headington - Cherwell Drive & Headley Way (Oxford) Proposed Side Road Entry Treatments

Following on from an earlier decision approved at the Cabinet Members Decision meeting in September 2019 (for details: click here) Oxfordshire County Council is now putting forward proposals for additional traffic/safety features as part of the wider traffic management measures in the Headington and Marston areas of Oxford. The measures are being put forward for consultation now, however funding is yet to be finalised.

Specifically the proposals include the following:

Side Road Entry Treatments: (comprising of flat top humps approx. 150mm high with ramp gradients of 1:10)

1. Cherwell Drive – across its junctions with:

a) Elms Drive – approximately 7.9m long & 6m wide,

b) Ewin Close – approximately 8.1m long & 5.3m wide.

2. Headley Way – across its junctions with:

c) Snowdon Mede – approximately 6.9m long & 3.4m wide,

d) Eden Drive – approximately 9.9m long & 3.6m wide,

e) Copse Lane – approximately 8m long & 6.4m wide, and

f) Cholesbury Grange – approximately 5.3m long & 3.1m wide.

Shared-Use Pedestrian & Cycle track:

3. Oxford Road – from a point 15 metres southwest of its junction with Cherwell Drive continuing southwest outside 46 Oxford Road for a distance of approximately 16 metres.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire or by writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.320/A2H_SRETs) to the address below by 24 January 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting early in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
