A361 North of M40/J11 (Banbury) - Proposed 40mph & 50mph speed limits

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce a 40mph speed limit and a 50mph speed limit (in place of the existing national 60mph speed limit) on the A361 northeast of the M40 / J11 interchange. The proposals are being put forward as a result of the development of adjacent land for commercial purposes, specifically they comprise of:

  • a 40mph speed limit on the A361 approximately 80* metres east of the M40/J11 interchange, eastwards and northwards for a distance of approximately 550* metres,
  • a 50mph speed limit on the A361 northwards to meet the existing 50mph speed limit at the Northants County boundary,
  • two bus stops on each side of the A361 carriageway with a 'No Stopping except buses' restriction.

* All measurements are approximate.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: JaC/12.6.120) to the address below by 11 December 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting in January 2021. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
