Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make changes on the B4020 Shilton Road and the A40 in Burford. The proposals are being put forward for road safety reasons in response to residential development works adjacent, to the west of the B4020 (opposite the Burford Garden Centre). Specifically, the changes comprise of the following:

  • B4020 Shilton Road Road:
    • to extend the 30mph speed limit  south of the junction with the A40 by 170 metres, in place of the current 60mph National Speed Limit, and

    • to install traffic calming features at 100m intervals (for a total length of 500m) south of the junction with the A40 - each feature will comprise of speed cushions with each cushion being: 3.7m long, 1.6m wide and 75mm high.

  • A40:
    • to construct a signalised crossing approximately 150m west of its junction with the B4020 Shilton Road.

* dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.149) to the address below by 31 May 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.
