A4144 Woodstock Road & B4495 Windmill Road (Oxford) Proposed 20mph Speed Limit & Parking Amendments

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the following changes as a result of the wider improvement schemes on the A4144 Woodstock Road and the B4495 Windmill Road at Oxford, the County Council is proposing the following measures for road safety reasons:

  • Extend the 20 mph Speed Limit as follows:
    • on Woodstock Road to run from its junction with St Giles northwards to a point 212 metres north of Little Clarendon Street (was 67metres), and
    • on Windmill Road  to cover the whole length of Windmill Road (currently from London Road crossroads to No.18 Windmill Road.
  • Shorten two Pay & Display Parking bays on the west side of Woodstock Road and remove one (a reduction of 29 metres leaving 91 metres of parking).

Note: There will also be enhancements including a textured central reservation, improved pavements and 2 new Bus Stop provided - southeast side of Woodstock Road outside Nos.38 & 40, and northwest side, opposite the northern boundary of the Public House at No.44.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire or by writing (quoting ref: AK/12.6.134) to the address below by 11 August 2017. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2017. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
