A417 Faringdon Road (Stanford in the Vale) Proposed Toucan Crossing & Shared-Use Cycle Path

Oxfordshire County Council is proposing to make the following changes on the A417 Faringdon Road in Stanford in the Vale. The proposals are being put forward to help improve pedestrian and pedal cyclist safety in the area in response to the adjacent residential development . 

Specifically, the proposals comprise of the following measures:

  • Toucan Crossing (a signalised crossing for use by pedestrians & pedal-cyclists) – new crossing to be located approx 60* metres southeast of the junction with Joyces Road, and
  • Conversion of the existing segregated footway/cycleway to Shared-Use Pedestrian & Cycle track – on the path on the eastern side of the A417 Faringdon Road, from a point approx. 50* metres north of the junction with Farm Piece, southwards to a point approx. 30* metres south of the junction with Farm Piece, a distance of approx. 110 metres.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email, or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.361) to the address below by 22 November 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2019 or early in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
