A41 Oxford Road (Chesterton/Bicester) Proposed 40mph & 50mph Speed Limits

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to reduce the speed limit on the northbound carriageway of the A41 Oxford Road on the approach to the Vendee Drive roundabout junction, in Chesterton nr Bicester. The proposals are being put forward in response to the road safety issues witnessed at the roundabout, specifically the proposals will:

  • extend the existing 40mph speed limit southwards on the northbound carriageway by approximately 240* metres, and then
  • approaching that, introduce a 50mph speed limit for approximately 670* metres.

* the existing national speed limit (70mph) will therefore be reduced by the same amounts.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: AK/12.6.129/398) to the address below by Friday 27 March 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
