Abingdon, Henley-on-Thames, Oxford & Wallingford - Proposed Amendment to Parking Charges

Oxfordshire County Council proposes is proposing to increase the fees for permits for residents parking schemes in Abingdon, Henley and Oxford in line with Index Linking. The fees for residents parking permits have not been increased since 2015, and to ensure that the schemes are financially viable and can be properly enforced, an increase in charges is required to ensure their continued operation. Specifically, the changes comprise of the following:

Residents & Visitor Permit charges to be increase as follows:

  • Oxford:
    • All Residents Permits currently costing £60 will be increased to £65 per annum index linked for the 1st & 2nd car
    • All Residents Permits currently costing £120 will be increased to £130 per annum index linked for a 3rd car
    • All Residents Permits currently costing £180 will be increased to £200 per annum index linked for a 4th car
    • All Residents Permits currently costing £15 will be increased to £16 per annum index linked.
    • All Visitors Permits currently costing £20 for a block of 25 (second allocation) will be increased to £25 index linked. The initial block of 25 will remain free of charge as will all Visitors Permits for zones covered by the Kassam Stadium Orders
    • Contractors/traders permits currently costing £20 will be increased to £25.
    • Business Permits will change as follows: 
      1. Annual - increasing to £150,
      2. 9 month - increasing to £115
      3. 6 months - increasing to £75
      4. 3 months - increasing to £40
      5. Business permits change of vehicle (currently no charge) - increasing to £15
  • Henley-on-Thames - Residents Permits will increase to £100 (currently costing £80),
  • Abingdon - Visitors Permits will cost £25 for 2nd allocation of 25 permits.

* All these charges are inflationary, with increases to take effect 1 April 2020 and such increases will not take place more frequently than once every three years.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: AK/CM/TRO) to the address below by Friday 06 March 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
