Various Roads (Abingdon) Proposed Toucan, Zebra & Pegasus Crossings

The County Council is consulting on proposals to introduce various crossings within the northern Abingdon area. The crossings are being proposed in order to aid vulnerable (pedestrians/cyclists/horse riders) road users in respect to the new residential development.

Toucan crossings (a signal controlled crossing for use by both pedestrians and pedal cyclists) centred at the following locations:

  • Dunmore Road (east) - approx. 110 metres east of its junction with Boulter Drive,
  • Dunmore Road (west) - approx. 130 metres west of its junction with Boulter Drive,
  • Oxford Road - approx. 130 metres north of its junction with the Twelve Acre Drive/Dunmore Road roundabout,
  • Twelve Acre Drive - approx. 115 metres east of its junction with Matlock Way.

Pegasus crossings (a signal controlled crossing with special consideration for horse riders) centred at the following location:

  • Dunmore Road (west) - approx. 140 metres west of its junction with Boulter Drive.

Additionally, following an earlier consultation (click here for details) carried out in June 2016, the County Council s is proposing to introduce a Zebra crossing (in an alternative location to previously proposed) to facilitate the safe movement of pedestrians in the vicinity of the school, at the following location:

  • Faringdon Road - approximately 70 metres west of its junction with Godwyn Close.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.100) to the address below by 25 May 2018. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2018. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.

This consultation has now closed.
