Ploughley Road (Ambrosden) Proposed Traffic Calming Features

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures on the Ploughley Road in Ambrosden, which are being proposed in order to improve road safety within the village by slowing down through traffic. Specifically the proposals consist of the following measures:

• Kerbed build-outs with round top humps (each to be approx. 7m* long by 3m* wide):
  • At the Northern end, to be located on the southbound carriageway, south of the junction with Buttercup Way, with priority given to traffic travelling northwards, and at
  • the Southern end, located on the northbound carriageway south of the junction with Old Arncott Road, with priority given to traffic travelling southwards.
• The build outs will reduce the width of the carriageway to approx. 3 metres and will be accompanied by additional signs and lining improvements.
• Additionally, the traffic island located approx. 25 metres south of the junction with Merton Road will be removed, with new road markings proposed for the Merton Road junction.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.105) to the address below by 19 February 2021. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2021 (the Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here). The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
