B4020 Shilton Road (Carterton) Proposed 30mph & 40mph Speed Limits

Following on from earlier consultations in 2015 (for changes to 30mph & 40mph speed limits) and then in 2017 for changes to the 30mph speed limit (click here) - Oxfordshire County Council is again consulting on proposals to make the following changes in response to the development of land adjacent to the B4020 Shilton Road leading northwards out of Carterton, coupled with continued local road safety concerns:

  • to extend the 30mph speed limit on the B4020 Shilton Road northwards by 150 metres, and then
  • continue with a 40mph speed limit from that point to meet the existing 40mph limit at Shilton Dip (this section of road has currently an unrestricted National speed limit of 60mph).

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.151/340) to the address below by 03 July 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
