Bankside (Banbury) Proposed Parking Restrictions (DYLs) & Traffic Calming Improvements

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the following changes in response to the development of land adjacent to Bankside in Banbury:

  • To introduce/extend ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ – Double Yellow Lines (DYLs) in the Bankside junctions with the following roads:
    • Hightown Road, High Acres, Coppice Close, Meadow View, Wood End, Bridle Close, Spinney Drive, Farm Way, and Chatsworth Dive (north and south junctions),
    • and the Newbold Close DYLs to be extended by 22m.
  • To introduce/extend ‘No Waiting Mondays to Saturdays 8am to 6pm’ in various parts of Bankside.

It is also being proposed to construct the following traffic features along Bankside, as detailed below:

  • Raised Zebra crossing - constructed on a flat top road hump (height 75mm, length 9m, with ramp gradients of 1:15, centred on a point approx. 30m north-west of its junction with Spinney Drive,
  • Speed Cushions (replacing current chicane features) - 20 pairs approximately 1.6m wide, 2.5m long and 75mm high, and spaced 80m apart between the junctions with Hightown Road and the roundabout junction with the road leading to the A4260 Oxford Road.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in writing (quoting ref: AK/TRO/12.6.120) to the address below by 24 March 2017. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2017. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
