Bishopstone Road (Bourton, Vale) Proposed Traffic Calming Build-out

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures on the Bishopstone Road in Bourton. The scheme is being proposed in order to assist the safe movement of traffic and help improve road safety in the area:

  • Kerbed build-out (approx. 8m* long by 1.5m* wide):
    • at the village entry point, on the south side of the carriageway approx. 50 metres* south-east of its junction with the access to St James Church. Priority will be given to traffic travelling south-eastwards out of the village.
    • The build out will reduce the width of the carriageway to 3.2 metres (from 4.5 metres) and will be accompanied by additional signs and lining improvements.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email, or in writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.139) to the address below by 08 November 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2019 or in early 2020 - The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
