Carterton Road, Manor Road & Station Road (Brize Norton) Proposed Traffic Calming Features

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures on the approaches to Brize Norton village, which are being proposed in order to assist the safe movement of traffic and help improve road safety in the area in light of residential development:

  • Kerbed build-out (approx. 9m long by 2 wide):
    • Manor Road - the build-out exiting the village will be on the south side of the carriageway approx. 18 metres* north-east of its junction with the field access opposite Windmill Cottage. Priority will be given to traffic travelling north-eastwards out of the village
  • Raised Table Calming Feature - will be 4m long & 3.7m wide, with additional ramps being 1m long and 75mm high (with approx. gradient of 1:12):
    • Manor Road - located approx. 45m* south of the roundabout junction with Burford Road, Elm Grove & Minster Road.
  • Kerbed build-outs (approx. 6m long by 1.5m wide):
    • Carterton Road - the build-out will be on the north side of the carriageway approx. 45 metres* south-west of its junction with the northern access to the Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron base. Priority will be given to traffic travelling south-westwards out of the village.
    • Station Road - the build-out will be on the west side of the carriageway approx. 115 metres* south of its junction with the access to Upper Haddon Farmhouse. Priority will be given to traffic travelling southwards out of the village.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.
