Burford Road (Witney) Proposed Toucan Crossing & Shared-Use Footway

Oxfordshire County Council is proposing to make the following changes on the Burford Road, to help improve pedestrian and pedal cyclist safety in the area in response to the development of land to the north of the carriageway:

  • to install a Toucan crossing (a signal controlled crossing for use by both pedestrians and pedal cyclists) approx. 90 metres west of its junction with Springfield Park, and
  • to construct Shared-use footway/cycle track at the following locations:
    • North side: from a point approximately 60 metres west of its junction with Tower Hill to a point approximately 90 metres west of its junction with Springfield Park,
    • South side: from a point approximately 90 metres west of its junction with Springfield Park to a point approximately 15 metres east of this junction (to then link to the service road of Burford Road).

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email, or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.410) to the address below by 16 March 2018. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2018. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
