Town Centre Roads (Charlbury) Proposed 20mph Speed Limit

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to reduce the speed limit on the roads within Charlbury town centre, this is for road safety reasons in response to concerns raised by the Town Council, specifically the proposals will:

  1. introduce a 20mph speed limit in the central area of the town. All roads within, and leading out to following terminal points will be included:
    1. Hixet Wood - 102 metres north of Five Ways,
    2. Grammar School Hill - 115 metres south of Clarendon Court,
    3. Market Street - junction with Dyers Hill / Thames Street,
    4. Nine Acres Lane - 86 metres west of Enstone Road,
    5. B4022 Banbury Hill - 75 metres north of Hundley Way,
    6. Ditchley Road - 170 metres northeast of Kearsey Court,
    7. B4022 The Slade - 28 metres south of Ditchley Road, and
    8. Dancers Hill - its junction with B4022 Sturt Road.
  1. Extend the existing 30mph speed limit on the B4022 Banbury Hill by 118 metres to a point 300 metres northeast of its junction with Hundley Way.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.156) to the address below by 08 November 2018. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2019 or early in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
