Chilton Fields (Chilton) Proposed Speed Limits & Parking Restrictions

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to formally recognise the 20mph speed limit zone within the Chilton Fields residential estate – which has been designed for this speed of traffic, with raised tables and chicane traffic calming features. It is also being proposed to introduce sections of ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ (double yellow lines) parking restrictions on Newbury Road & Chilton Field Way. The proposals aim to better manage the unregulated parking, minimise danger to road users and to allow for the safe flow of traffic into/out of the estate and the school site. Specifically, the changes comprise of the following:

  • 20mph Speed Limit Zone on all roads within the Chilton Fields development.
  • 30mph Speed Limit on Chilton Field Way, which links into Newbury Road to the A4185 junction.
  • 'No Waiting at Any Time' (double-yellow lines) to cover the junctions from the A4185 south-westwards into Newbury Road, including White Road, through Newbury Road to the start of Chilton Field Way; and also, the Chilton Field Way junction with Downside Road.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.164) to the address below by 20 December 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting early in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
