Chilton Interchange Improvement Scheme Proposed Toucan Crossings

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct two Toucan crossings to help improve safety at road crossing desire lines as part of the Chilton Interchange improvement scheme, as described below:

  • A4185 Newbury Road – with the centre of the proposed crossing approximately 35 metres south-east of its junction with Newbury Road (cul-de-sac leading to Garden Centre),
  • Hagbourne Hill – with the centre of the proposed crossing approximately 30 metres north-east of its junction with Townsend.

The A4185 Newbury Road crossing is to facilitate access to the relocated southbound Garden Centre Bus Stop. The Hagbourne Hill Crossing is to facilitate access between Chilton Village and Restricted Byway 164/10.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in writing (quoting ref: CM/AK.12.6.164) to the address below by 18 December 2015. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting on 14 January 2016. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
