Various City Centre Roads (Oxford) Proposed Pedal Cycle Parking

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to provide additional, convenient and secure cycle parking facilities at various locations within the City centre. The proposals - in conjunction with Oxford City Council & Oxford University - are being put forward in line with the ‘Oxford Transport Strategy’ to help encourage more cycling to and from the city centre, and to better facilitate the growing number of pedal cyclists. Specifically, the proposals apply to the following locations:

    • New Road - on the northeast side outside of Nuffield College,
    • Queen Street - on:
      • a) the north side outside Nos.31-35, and
      • b) south side outside of Nos.13-20,
    • Ship Street - to the west of Turl Street,
    • Speedwell Street - on the north and south side at the junction with St Aldates,
    • Turl Street - on the east side at the junction with Brasenose Lane, and
    • Wellington Square - on the east side near to the Oxford University Admissions building.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.320) to the address below by 19 June 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
