Cumnor Hill & Oxford Road (Cumnor) Proposed 30mph Speed Limit

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to significantly extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Cumnor Hill to cover its entire length, leading southwards. The proposals are being put forward as a result of the development of land adjacent to Cumnor Hill, as well as increased local road safety concerns, and the proposals specifically comprise of the following:

  • to extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Cumnor Hill southwards to a point 87 metres beyond its junction with Oxford Road, and
  • extending this new limit into Oxford Road for approx. 50metres, the existing 40mph will be replaced/reduced as a result.

note: for administrative reasons only related to boundary alignment - the Eynsham Parish Speed Limits Order will be amended by removing the entry for the 30mph speed limit that covers the Swinford Toll Bridge and placing it into the new Cumnor Parish order.

This consultation also includes proposals consulted on in February 2019 (for details click here) and these are included as part of the new scheme.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.184) to the address below by 03 July 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
