A417 Park Road and Sands Hill (Faringdon) - Proposed Puffin Crossing & Traffic Calming features

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to install the following features on Park Road, to help improve pedestrian safety in the area:

    • Puffin Crossing (a signalised crossing for use by pedestrians):
      • to be located A417 Park Road approximately 79* metres west of its junction with Stickley Court. 
    • Raised Junction Tables – to be between 75mm-125mm high (with gradients no steeper than 1 in 10) to be located on Sands Hill:
      • at the new development access road, approx. 74 metres south of the ‘Emergency site access’, and
      • at the proposed new development access road, approx. 178 metres south of the ‘Northern site access’.
    • Uncontrolled Pedestrian Crossing Points - to be located on the A417 Park Road approximately:
      • 38* metres east of its junction with Stickley Court,
      • 18* metres west of the junction with Volunteer Way and
      • 40* metres east of the junction with Palmer Road.
    • Raised Uncontrolled Pedestrian & Cycle Crossing Points – to be between 75mm-125mm high (with gradients no steeper than 1 in 10) to be located:
      • on the new road junction, which is 60* metres west of its junction with Volunteer Way, 60* metres south of its new junction with Park Road,
      • Sands Hill approx. 8* metres south of its new widened junction with Park Road,
      • on Sands Hill approx. 5* metres south of the existing footpath on Sands Hill
      • on the new development access road, approx.11* metres south of the new widened junction with Park Road
    • Bus Stops (‘No stopping except buses’ restriction) - to be located on A417 Park Road approximately:
      • on the south side, 8* metres east of the junction with Stickley Court, and
      • on the North side, 35* metres west of its junction with Volunteer Way. 

    * All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: JaC.12.6.207) to the address below by 10 July 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council's Cabinet meeting in July 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council's website a week before the meeting.
