Godstow Road (Oxford) Proposed Traffic Calming

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures on Godstow Road in Oxford, which are being proposed in conjunction with Oxford City Council in order to improve road safety by reducing the speed of motor vehicle through-traffic. Specifically the proposals consist of the following measures:

  • Speed Cushions - comprising of 6 pairs, with each cushion being 3m long, 1.9m wide & 75mm high (with gradients no steeper than 1 in 8) to be located approximately:
    • 20 metres* east of the junction with Rowland Close,
    • 15 metres* east of the junction with Rosamund Road,
    • 38 metres* west of the junction with Elmthorpe Road,
    • 14 metres* west of the junction with Elmthorpe Road,
    • 20 metres* east of the junction with Elmthorpe Road, and
    • 40 metres* east of the junction with Elmthorpe Road.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email, or in writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.320) to the address below by 03 July 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections are planned be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting
