B4009 High Street (Goring-on-Thames) Proposed Traffic Calming

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to construct the following traffic calming measures on the B4009 High Street in Goring-on-Thames, which are being proposed  in order to improve road safety within the town Centre. Specifically the proposals consist of the following measures:

  • Raised Table ‘Informal’ Crossing Point - full width flat top hump, to be 4m long x 75mm high, with 2 x 1.2 metre ramps with gradients no steeper than 1-in-15. To be located approximately 40* metres east of the junction with Manor Road, and
  • Build-Out Feature – to be 2.5m wide (narrowing the carriageway to 3.25 metres) with 2 x Glasdon bollards with retroreflective bands. To be located at the existing give-way road markings by ‘The Arcade’ approximately 47* metres south-west of the junction with Cleeve Road.
  • In addition to the above features, realignment & improvement of the footway adjacent to Nos.1 & 10 High Street is also planned.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.
