Main Street (Great Bourton) Proposed Speed Limit Changes & Calming Relocation

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the following changes in response to the new residential development on the northern side of Main Street, at the western end of Great Bourton:

  • Extending the 30mph Speed Limit on Main Street westwards by approx 80 metres in place of the existing 60mph National Speed Limit, and
  • Introduce a 50mph Speed Limit on the remaining 50 metres of Main Street leading to 50mph speed limit on the A423 Southam Road.

It is also being proposed to remove and relocate the existing traffic calming build-out at the current western terminal point of the 30mph speed limit, with a new build-out feature at the newly proposed 30mph/50mph terminal point.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire or by writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.138) to the address below by 12 January 2018. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting early in 2018. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
