Hanney Road (Steventon) Proposed Traffic Calming Amendment

Following an earlier consultation carried out in October 2016 (for details click here) regarding the proposals to make changes to the traffic calming features on the Hanney Road at the western edge of the village, to help improve road safety in the area. The proposals - as a result of the development of land adjacent to Hanney Road - remain as originally consulted on, and comprise of the following specific measures:

• Existing Kerbed build-out – on the northern side of the carriageway, located approx. 45 metres west of Harding Vale will be amended as follows:
  • New flat-topped full-width road hump will be constructed on the southern side of the carriageway, to be 75mm high & 5.8 metres long, with a gradient of 1:8.
  • Priority will be given to traffic exiting the village, i.e. travelling north-westwards.
• The existing Kerbed build-out on the southern side of the carriageway, located approx. 25 metres west of Harding Vale will be removed.

* All dimensions are approximate, taken from the centre of the junction to the centre of the feature.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM/12.6.366) to the address below by 19 February 2021. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting early in 2021 (the Forward Plan of decisions meetings can be viewed here). The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
