Horsemere Lane (Cassington) Proposed Road Closure RECONSULTATION

Following an earlier consultation carried out in January/February 2018 (for details click here) regarding the proposal to close the use of Horsemere Lane by motor vehicles, Oxfordshire County Council is now re-consulting on proposals to close Horsemere Lane to vehicles for road safety reasons and to prevent its use a `rat-run` to the A40. The new proposal are being put forward following further clarification of the highway status and additional input from the County Councils `Rights of Way` & Legal (Environment) teams, and it has been decided to provide more information to give a better understanding of the proposals:

  • The lane will be closed to motor vehicles and horse drawn vehicles, and its use restricted to cycles, horses and pedestrians,
  • the one-way traffic restriction, and the 5 tonne Weight Limit will be revoked. Gated access will be provided for permitted access to property in that lane, and finally
  • to revert the lane to its status as Restricted Byway 152/4

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.152) to the address below by 05 April 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2019. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.

This consultation has now closed.
