Thornhill & Oxford Parkway (Water Eaton) Park & Ride Sites (Oxford) Proposed Charging Amendment

The County Council is consulting on a proposal to provide a more convenient payment arrangement for groups travelling to/from Oxford City Centre at the Thornhill & Water Eaton park & ride sites.

The proposal will introduce a new charge providing combined parking and bus travel (from both Park & Ride sites) as follows:

  • A combined ticket costing £6.80 will be available allowing parking for up to 11 hours and bus travel for a maximum of 2 Adults and 3 Children to and from Oxford City Centre (according to the ticketing terms and conditions of the Oxford Bus Company).
  • Other parking charges are unchanged by this Order.

In addition, changes will be made to the title of the original order and the description of the Water Eaton Park and Ride facility to recognise the new Oxford Parkway Rail Station which has a separate car park and area of responsibility. For clarification, enforcement responsibilities remain with the County Council for the Park and Ride areas, and by separate contractors for the rail franchisee covering the rail station car park area.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire  or by writing (quoting ref: DMT/P&R) to the address below by 25 August 2017. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2017. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.

This consultation has now closed.
