A4155 (Shiplake) - Proposed 40mph speed limit

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce a 40mph speed limit, in place of the existing 30mph speed limit, on the A4155 Henley to Reading road, south of Lower Shiplake.

  • to replace the existing 30mph speed limit on the A4155 Shiplake with 40mph speed limit - from a point 208 metres south of Woodlands Road, southwards to a point 50 metres north of Mill Lane.

The road layout and conditions are such that by following national guidance on setting out local speed limits, a 40mph speed limit would be more appropriate due to the lack of busy junctions and road side develoment, 30mph is regarded as too restrictive for the progress of traffic.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: JaC/12.6.245) to the address below by 5 April 2019. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting in May 2019. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
