Village Roads (Weston-on-the-Green) Proposed 20mph & 40mph Speed Limits

Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce lower speed limits within Weston-on-the-Green village for road safety reasons. The village has seen an increase in young families & the Parish Council is looking to encourage a safe environment to enable them to reach the local amenities. The proposals seek to create a safer environment for villagers through reduced overall speeds & dissuading additional excess traffic. Specifically, the proposals comprise of the following measures:

  • Reduce the existing 30mph speed limit to 20mph on: Blacksmiths Close, Church Close, Church Lane, Church Road, Mill Lane & Village Farm Court - covering the centre of the village, and
  • Introduce a ‘buffer’ 40mph speed limit on Church Lane, leading south-westwards from the village, reducing the existing 60mph National speed limit by the same amount.

Objections to the proposals and other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, may be sent in by completing the online questionnaire, via email or in writing (quoting ref: CM.12.6.404) to the address below by 30 October 2020. The Council will consider objections and representations received in response and they may be disseminated widely for these purposes and made available to the public.

Any unresolved objections will be reported to the Council’s Cabinet meeting later in 2020 or early in 2021. The papers for the meeting will be available on the County Council’s website about a week before the meeting.
